Kiwi vs Fitbod

Both build your strength workouts for you. Fitbod is a workout generator you steer with settings; Kiwi is a coach you can talk to. Here's how to choose.

Which is better, Kiwi or Fitbod?

It depends on how you like to train. Choose Fitbod if you want a well-established workout generator that picks each session from your muscle recovery, equipment and history, with Apple Watch and Wear OS apps. Choose Kiwi if you want a coach you can talk to: it plans your week around your schedule, changes the plan when you ask, and answers questions in chat any time. Fitbod has no in-app chat; its trainers answer questions by email. Both have a free week, so you can try each.

When is Fitbod the better choice?

  • You want your workout on your wrist. Fitbod has companion apps for Apple Watch and Wear OS.
  • You'd rather steer with settings than talk to a coach. Your goal, split, equipment and workout length drive every session, and Fitbod works around muscles that haven't recovered yet.
  • You want a long track record. Fitbod launched in 2015, and as of October 2026 it has about 288,000 App Store ratings, averaging 4.8.
  • Your household trains too. Fitbod has Duo and Family plans.

When is Kiwi the better choice?

  • You want answers right away. Ask the coach anything in chat, by text or voice message, and get an answer in seconds.
  • You want to change your plan by saying so. "I only have 30 minutes today" or "swap squats for something easier on my knees", and the coach changes it.
  • You want your week planned, not just the next workout. Kiwi lays out your week around the days you can train, and the coach moves workouts when your week changes.
  • You train with friends. Follow friends, cheer their workouts and train together in a crew.

Can I switch from Fitbod to Kiwi?

Yes. Download Kiwi, answer a few questions about your goals, schedule and equipment, and tell the coach what you've been lifting. It sets your plan's weights from there.
